Name: KIM TAL MYONG (金達明)
Age: 23 years old.
Rank: Master Sergeant.

Education: Middle school 8 years.
Previous Occupation: Farmer.
Foreign Language Spoken: Japanese (fair).
Date of Capture: 17 August 1950.
Place of Capture: KUJI DONG.

Training:
PW was member of the North Korean People Republic from Feb 48 and was conscripted into the North Korean Army automatically (Nov 10th). Took medical training until 10 March 1949. Training consisted of how to apply tourniquet, bandaging, splints etc. Pharmacy was primary training. Trained at NAM-YANG, on the border of MANCHURIA, in the Northeastern corner of KOREA.

Mission:
PW’s mission was to meet his Division somewhere north of TAEGU as a Medical Corps man. He took care of the sick and wounded while on the move and in the fighting front.

Armor:
7th Division and 15 Russian JS-2 Tanks. It was manned by 4 to 5 men, a communication man, driver, gunner, and a machine gunner. It was a heavy tank about 20 or 22 feet long and 122MM gun mounted on.

Artillery:
The 7th Division had ten 122MM M1910/30 Howitzer, 3rd Regiment had eighteen 45MM M1942, 54 60MM mortar, and 27 82MM mortar.

Communications:
Source did not have any chance of observing the communication equipment but saw one radio transceiver 4R (RSS-40).

Electricity Supply:
Most of the war torn cities were without electricity. Damages inflicted on source of power supply were beyond repair at that time.

Conscription in North Korean and Occupied Areas:
All North Koreans, 18 and up were forced to join the army one way or the other. All member of the North Korean People’s Republic who were in the organization were automatically conscripted. They were marched off to some big building and were issued old uniforms. From that day on they were North Korean soldiers.
