Military History:
The 3rd Regt, 7th Div was activated at HAEJU, 7 Jul 50. Between the 1st and 7th of Jul 50, young farmers and students were gathered and processed into the 3rd Regt. The regiment trained for about 15 days. Received training according to individual branch of service. The 3rd Regt received weapons and equipment about two (2) hours prior to departure from HAEJU o/a 20 Jul 50.
The unit went by rail to SUSEI (10-15 km North of SEOUL). The unit trained hear and marched via SEOUL, SUWON, P’YONGTAEK, CHONAN, TAEJON, MUNSAN, CHINJU, SACH’ON and arrived at KOSONG on eve of 17 Aug 50. The only battle was with the South Korean police just north of T’ONGYONG. Subject thins that all the 1st Bn, 3rd Regt and elements of the 3rd Bn were either killed or taken prisoner in this engagement.

T/O of PW’s Unit:
3rd Regt is composed of three (3) battalions. Each Bn is composed of three (3) infantry companies, one (1) Signal Platoon, one (1) AT platoon, one (1) medical platoon, one (1) supply platoon. Each Bn strength was about 650-700 men. Each infantry company strength was 130-150 men. Signal platoon composed of two (2) sqds (there were 7 men to a squad). Platoon strength was 16 men. The Signal Platoon was equipped with three (3) field telephones and one (1) 500 meter roll of wire. The officer carried a pistol and the men all carried rifles.
