1. PERSONAL DETAILS:
PW NAME: YUNG Sho Chung (用收成)

UNIT: CCF 66th Corps, Div Unk, 587th Regt, 3d Bn, 8th Co.
DATE AND PLACE OF CAPTURE: 4 March 51 N of HOENGSONG
CAPTURING UNIT: 1st Marines
EDUCATION: None
INTERROGATOR: Sgt SATO

2. ASSESSMENT:
Because of low intelligence, did not give sensible answers. Seemed mentally ill. Cannot read or write. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Strength of Unit:
(1) Original Strength: When entered KOREA, Dec 50.
8th Co - 120 men
(2) Present Strength: 24 Feb 51.
3d Bn - 300
8th Co - 75
Code Name: 587th Regt - "ER PU" (2d Unit)

b. Chronology:
Serving with CNA when captured and forced into CCF Army Mar 49.
Dec 50 - 66th Corps entered KOREA near ANTUNG, MANCHURIA. 66th Corps engaged in combat twice above 38th Parallel and twice more before arriving HOENGSONG and HONGCHON vicinity.
24 Feb 51 - 66th Corps arrived vicinity of HONGCHON and HOENGSONG. PW was separated from his unit while he slept. Travelled in many directions, trying to locate his unit, but ran into American forces and was captured.

c. Weapons and Equipment:
Observed following weapons:
2 - 60mm Mortars in 587th Regt.
4 - HMG in each HMG Co.
4 - LMG in PW Rifle Co (8th)
Each soldier carried four hand grenades.
587th Regt used trucks and 20 horses.
One wireless transmitter at 587th Regt CP.
Telephone communication used down to Bn.

d. Status of Supply; Route of Supply:
Food supply low. Hardly any supply from the rear. Troops usually ate once a day, twice at most.
Medical facilities only for slight wounds. Wounded are taken northward in trucks.

e. Other Units:
Knows of only 40th and 39th CCF Corps besides 66th. Heard 39th Corps in same area as 66th. Heard of 199th Div.

f. Morale:
High, though he knew of many desertions among troops. Deserting troops believed to be going, back to CHINA.

g. Effectiveness of Weapons:
Artillery fire has been most effective from what PW saw.
